CPC PC Released Review: AMD Ryzen 93 Watt Power Consumption; Comprehensive Performance 46% Faster Than FX-8370
Keisuke AkioA recent report by a French trusted newspaper released a review on AMD's Ryzen. The hardware guru executed tests with an engineering sample of AMD Ryzen-CPU, the publication involves a 3.15 GHz sample that was tested into detail and with several tests.
Based on the publication, it seems that AMD has circulated four different samples of Zen to several of its key partners, such as OEMs like HP and Dell, as well as motherboard manufacturers. These four samples are allocated into two quad-cores and two eight-core prototypes.
The sample that got into the possession of Canard PC is branded with product code 2D3151A2M88E4; this is an 8-core type with the base clock of 3.15 GHz. The boost clock was the biggest limiter as it never surpassed 3.4 GHz, while AMD lately announced that the final processors would get a higher turbo and base clock of 3.4 GHZ.
The AMD Ryzen CPU here performs extraordinarily well. In fact, it beats the six-core HEDT Intel Core i7-6800K, which is priced at $434. It is, however, beaten by Core i7-6900K by a significant margin but not really that impressive considering the 6900K has a price of over $1000. Remarkably, the AMD Ryzen processor boasts an aggregate improvement of a full 60% against the FX-8370, which is the last generation of AMD's 8-core roster.
According to Wccftech, any tech aficionado would know, the final question for any GPU or CPU is always the power draw. In the review by Canard PC, the AMD Ryzen processor essentially outperforms Intel's Core i7-6900K by scoring 93 Watts, while Intel's resulted to 96 watts. In comparison, the older version FX-8370 scored 118 Watts from the wall. It is to be noted that AMD Zen processors are to be joined with an AMD X370 board. An 8-core processor, however, has quite a lot of overclocking possibilities foreseen in the launch.
If assessed at the points we have from the review released, then AMD will surely give Intel an incredible amount of competition. This is something we have not seen for the past few years. In addition, it is already official -- AMD is back.
