‘Game Of Thrones’ Is The Most Pirated TV Show of 2016

"Game of Thrones" is the most downloaded TV show of 2016 and it has been for a fifth year in a row, according to a report from digitalspy.

For the last five years, "Game of Thrones" is on the top of the list when illegal downloading of TV shows is concerned, followed by second place "The Walking Dead". There were other reports that "The Grand Tour" was now the most pirated TV show but was immediately disputed and the five-year reign of "The Game of Thrones" remains unchallenged.

The popular TV show was downloaded in torrent sites almost as many times than it did in 2015 at 350,000 downloads per episode, although those figures could be much higher because a lot of people switched from torrent to streaming.

A report by torrentfreak also stated that there were new shows that appeared on their most pirated list, which includes "Westworld", "Lucifer" and "The Grand Tour". A newcomer on the list, "Westworld" a western science-fiction TV show, has gained popularity in pirate communities and in third place.

Here is the top 10 list of most pirated shows on TV: 1.) "Game of Thrones," 2.) "The Walking Dead," 3.) "Westworld," 4.) "The Flash," 5.) "Arrow," 6.) "The Big Bang Theory," 7.) "Vikings," 8.) "Lucifer," 9.) "Suits," 10.) "The Grand Tour."

The list above is based on several sources including statistics that was reported by BitTorrent trackers, together with the ratings in the U.S.

According to the same report, a growing trend of moving from 480p to 720p and 1080p has been showing, which indicates more interest in high-quality videos.
