‘Watch Dogs 2' Review: Enjoyable Despite Major Problems
Jomst C.The open world game "Watch Dogs 2" was not that impressive for a number of reasons. The shooting is not that good, the stealth mode is too basic, and the open world that has the familiar style from Ubisoft of collecting things by repeating the same actions over and over again.
A game about hackers trying to solve world problems, doing straight up crimes, murdering people with 3D printed weaponry, to the point that it seems senseless. But the view on the game is generally subjective, a man's 'yes" can mean "no" to another. With all the fault that can be found in the game, it is still very enjoyable.
Even with the lack of immersion and consistency on characterization, the sandbox environment is quite interesting. "Watch Dogs 2" is filled with exciting missions. The area can be scouted with the fantastic RC device. It can hack terminals remotely, and a chance to complete missions without even entering a car. Though the stealth is shallow, it's a way to a different level of systems that rewards creativity. For example, infiltrating and finishing a mission set in an enemy infested building while chilling on the building rooftop that is what the feel of the game is.
The fiction behind the game is also notable, a story, where people basically likes each other. All problems come from outside the characters' circle, resulting in a tighter knit relationship because of their common goal. A rare thing to find in a game where you can print a high-level weapon and go ballistic with it in the game.
"Watch Dogs 2" though a game with problems, has gameplay depth, good setting, and right tone for an open world game. The game can be forgotten after a year or two, or the game might probably be left unfinished, but as it is, "Watch Dogs 2" is an entertaining title to play.
