'Pokemon Go' Update: New Year Event Has Started; Legendary Pokemon Like Articuno Might Return Next Spring!
Cores Grace MalaayOn Dec. 30, 2016, Niantic started the second part of "Pokemon Go" New Year event, which is pretty good than the first half of the event. The first phase of the event was that the in-game shop is on sale on certain items alongside the Christmas holiday event where three gift boxes with different items in each box can be purchased for different prices.
According to Pokemon Go Informer, the second phase of "Pokemon Go" New Year event is that the first-gen starter Pokemon and their evolution are showing up more often in the wild and most players think it's one of the best things ever rendered by Niantic for the game's special event. This would mean that all players can virtually evolve their starter Pokemon for a little ease of completing their Pokedex.
Although there's certain figure as to how much have the spawns increased but Pokemon Go Informer has caught at least ten of each starter Pokemon over the last day. He has also evolved his Charmeleon into a Charizard, which he said it's certainly fulfilling.
The third and final "Pokemon Go" New Year event is that the Lure Modules runs for 60 minutes instead the usual 30 minutes, which is possibly done to increase sales while the items are on sale as well as more chances of catching the starter Pokemon. The Express reports that the first partner Pokemon brought in the Kanto region will be discovered most likely from Dec 30, 2016 - Jan. 8, 2017.
The first partner Pokemon includes Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur, Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Squirtle, Wartortle and Blastoise. Additionally, earlier reports suggested that fans are hoping to see the Legendary Bird Pokemon such as Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos as part of the Christmas or New Year event since their absence since Niantic released "Pokemon Go" in 2016.
However, it appears that the bird Pokemon are not coming back to the wild too soon as Niantic has had other priorities for the holiday event but it's thinking of releasing them in spring this year. Nonetheless, fans are again hoping to see them next spring where players are expected to leave their homes.
