CES 2017: Latest ASUS ZenFone Model Could Be Running On Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
Rei LantionThe Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the place to be this 2017 for tech and gadget lovers everywhere. It's also the best live event platform for smartphone makers to unveil and announce their latest products and product-in-making.
Dubbed "the biggest trade show of the year," CES 2017 is happening in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 4 this year. And computer hardware company ASUS is taking advantage of the no doubt massive attendance to reveal its latest model under the ASUS ZenFone line.
Late December of last year, ASUS announced the new ZenFone handset, followed quickly by a teaser trailer. Not much was given by way of details, but the sneak peek described it as a handset that can enable "incredible exploration without limits." Flowery words aside, the phone's specs and hardware remained unconfirmed.
Now, there's a real chance this new ASUS ZenFone could be run by "the world's best processor" or so, Phone Arena reports. Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 is Qualcomm's latest flagship SoC and it promises power and energy efficiency despite its smaller scale compared to 2016's Snapdragon 820. Qualcomm itself will be revealing more details about it as well at the upcoming CES.
Softpedia News is confident that the latest ASUS ZenFone model will be running a Snapdragon chipset, following a tweet from ASUS. Other speculations regarding the handset's specific features such as a dual rear camera setup and VR headsets to be launched simultaneously remain unconfirmed.
Talk of a dual-camera setup on the back of the smartphone has further led to speculations that the latest ASUS ZenFone could be the next generation ZenFone Zoom touted as the world's "thinnest 3x optical-zoom smartphone." With the promise of such cutting-edge tech from giants like Qualcomm and ASUS, it's safe to say the smartphone community is on pins and needles. Whether they live up to the hype remains to be seen.
