'Diablo 3' Update: 20th Anniversary Patch Allows You to Play 'Diablo 1' in the Game; Now Live in the Americas
Cores Grace MalaayThe 20th anniversary patch for "Diablo 3" is going live this week and is now live in the Americas region. The patch 2.4.3 will be released alongside a recreation of "Diablo 1," the Darkening of Tristram Event that can be played inside "Diablo 3" this month.
According to Eurogamer, the retro dungeon is filled with pixelated visuals, sound effects and old school animations, which you can see in video below that Blizzard has released. It will explain how you can access the dungeon, which is via a portal in Old Tristram town as well as what you can look forward to it.
You can find a large dungeon through the portal that is basically a recreation of "Diablo 1" with the "Diablo 3" assets with a total of 16 levels cathedral-dungeon recreation of the first game. In the video, you'll see the camera moved in an eight degrees rotation with your character walking everywhere else and the sound seemed to be a bit smaller that repeats more frequently, which is a classic mechanic of PC games in the 90s.
The 2.4.3 patch for "Diablo 3" will arrive in Europe and Asia shortly and once it becomes available in those regions, players will be prompted to download it. PC Gamer reports that the patch will also have few modifications such as updated items, quality of life changes that include eliminating leaping opponents in mid-air and some tweaks on how the Greater Rifts work.
On Blizzard's forum on YouTube and Reddit, some players are disappointed that it only runs this month as they expected that it would this whole year and some are even upset that the re-imagining of "Diablo 2," the Necromancer is a paid DLC. Other players though are glad to know of this nostalgia event in "Diablo 3" and the fact that Blizzard has succeeded of recreating the first game's look would be difficult to argue.
