While avid gamers continue to wait with bated breath for some of the most anticipated video games including Square Enix's "Kingdom Hearts 3" to hit the store shelves this year, the game developer seems to have opted to keep details about the release date of its upcoming action role-playing game under wraps.

Previous reports have indicated that the long awaited sequel to "Kingdom Hearts 2" is not slated to arrive anytime soon. Aside from that, other details about "KH3" are scarce as well.

But fret not as director Tetsuya Nomura has finally spilled the beans about what could be in store for the game in a recent interview with Dengeki PlayStation, as translated via KH13. According to Nomura, "Kingdom Hearts 3" could boast a slew of customization options that were first spotted in "Kingdom Hearts 2.8."

Square Enix recently rolled out a new content dubbed "A Fragmentary Passage for Kingdom Hearts 2.8." The said content let players modify their character's outfit using just the items found in the environment.

For instance, Aqua will be able to ferret out special hats, such as Mickey Mouse ears and then, don them while participating in a battle. But this could be all these additions have to offer at the moment. However, Nomura advised players to accumulate a lot of items and design their own Aqua.

How Does This Affect 'Kingdom Hearts 3'

The director remained tight-lipped about what impact these additions could have on "KH3," only indicating that it depends on time. He emphasized that the studio has other priorities that they currently need to focus on.

However, since "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" is a prologue to "Kingdom Hearts 3," there is a possibility that the players might catch a glimpse of what could be in the offing in the third installment. Nomura has indicated in his previous interviews that both titles bear a striking resemblance in terms of narrative and combat, iDigitalTimes reported.

Meanwhile, there's word floating around indicating that "Kingdom Hearts 2.8's" latest content connects in a huge way to "Kingdom Hearts 3." A recent review of "KH2.8" via Game Informer alludes to an extended cut scene at the end of the four-hour section that centers on characters plunging into the next part of their adventure.
