Amazon Alexa Will Now Order Your Meals Via Voice-Command Through Amazon Restaurants
Cores Grace MalaayAmazon's voice-command system Alexa is becoming the best way to gain access to all things that Amazon offers, which makes use of Amazon's personal artificial intelligence infrastructure to conduct research, control your home, play music and buy things. Wait. Yes, buy things.
If you are starving and stuck in the middle of your endless laundry at home, or vacuuming your entire living room before the kids arrive from school, fret not because Amazon Alexa can do the honor for you. No, not doing the laundry but order food for you. According to Digital Trends, Amazon added a new skill for the voice assistant, which supports Amazon Restaurants service.
Previously, placing orders needs to be done via the Amazon and Prime Now mobile apps but it appears to have changed now as you only need your voice to do so. CNet reports that only Amazon Prime members have the access to Amazon Restaurants to use voice commands in ordering meals without any hassle from several participating restaurants.
"We are excited to leverage the innovative Alexa technology and give Prime members another easy way for Amazon Restaurants to take care of dinnertime with no menu markups and free delivery in one hour or less," Amazon Restaurant's general manager Gus Lopez said. Amazon Alexa will order your meals in certain regions in more than 20 cities by certain commands like "Alexa, order from Amazon Restaurants" or by saying the type of cuisine and the restaurant's name that you like.
Upon saying the command, the system will pull up your order history from the restaurant where you want to order the food from and will show the list of meals available. Once you can choose your meals, the food will be delivered to your default address automatically and if you spend $20 or more, the delivery is free with no hidden charges.
Note that the new Amazon Alexa ordering skill is only for re-orders. If you are a new starter, you'll have to access Amazon Restaurants through the web or the app, though if you live in one of the 20 supported cities, then your tacos is just a voice command away.
