Razer's Project Ariana Will Paint Your Game Onto the Wall of Your Entire Room
Cores Grace MalaayRazer's new concept, the Project Ariana - a 4K projector that will display the entire virtual universe onto the wall of your room is now in development. At CES 2017, Razer explained that its goal is to basically point the projector at your television, plug it into your PC and a built-in camera of the projector reads the edges of the television and expands your field of view instantly, which takes the game out of a small square further to the real world.
The Project Ariana built-in camera, which sits in the front can also read what's on the television and can render immersive lighting that is parallel to the old Philips Ambilight TVs, reports Gizmodo. During its demo at CES 2017, the high-concept projector was directly tied to the collection of Philips Hue lights and Chroma products in the room where it shows that each time your character in the game would pass by a light, it will flicker like a firelight and once the character is in a rage mode, every single light source in the room goes red as well and not just the display.
It was a successful demo as Project Ariana is partnered with Chroma, which is Razer's fancy lighting system. The projector is a combination of a pair of 3D-sensing camera and an ultra-wide 155-degree fisheye lens to ‘paint' related images like weather effects, in-game footage and colored lights in an attempt to augment the gaming experience display, according to CNet.
Although the projector is still a prototype, it is also designed as standalone HD projector. "Project Ariana is a concept design that showcases the power and potential of the Razer Chroma platform in the pre-VR world in bridging the gap between gamers and games," Razer co-founder CEO Min-Liang Tan said in a press release. Razer is hoping to release the final version of Project Ariana in late 2017, so that's at least a year away.
