HTC U Ultra, HTC U Play & HTC One X10 Might Arrive Post CES 2017; Vive Branded Phone Spotted In Promo Video [Watch]
Vinay PatelSurprisingly, the Las Vegas event did not witness some 'big' announcement as expected, with many companies refraining from spilling the beans about their upcoming devices. Meanwhile, HTC is looking to take the wraps off three smartphones in a dedicated 'For U' event following CES 2017 on January 12.
HTC is tipped to launch its concept smartphone that was spotted online last month bearing the codename 'Ocean' in major leaks. Now, known as HTC Ocean Note or HTC U Ultra, the device appears to be one of three different smartphone models that the Taiwanese tech firm is slated to announce at the event.
The other two smartphones are tipped off to be the HTC Alpine and HTC One X10 that bear a stage name, HTC X10. The speculation stems from a recent tweet from the self-proclaimed Tech Leak Superstar, Evan Blass (@OnLeaks), who claims that the HTC Alpine is the HTC U Play in reality.
The acclaimed tipster cites an unverified source to further suggest that the device is actually the smaller version of the HTC U Ultra that boasts a mammoth 6-inch display. The HTC U Play will come with a smaller 5.2-inch display and is likely to oust the traditional the 3.5mm audio jack too.
The third handset is tipped to be the HTC One X10 smartphone. Sporting a 5.5-inch full-HD display, the successor of the HTC One X9 will pack a MediaTek octa-core processor. If reports running rampant online are anything to go by, both the HTC U Play will hit the store shelves in Q1 2017.
The acclaimed tipster also gave HTC fans a peek at the alleged HTC Ocean and a new Vive-branded smartphone in the form of two separate leaked videos. A promotional video for the HTC Vive was originally leaked by HTC designer, Shaun Saperstein.
The leaker recently posted on Twitter. The said video centers on the device's design, which is customized to the fondness of every smartphone user and focuses on its "CMF (Color Material Finish) Kitchen" design studio.
The HTC Ocean video, on the other hand, revolves around a new edge-controlled interface, where a small scroller function is located at the side, offering a slew of effortlessly accessible shortcuts to the user.
It's worth noting that this is merely a concept video created by one of the designers. There's no word about the official Ocean promo video yet. That being said, there is a possibility that these features could never see the light of day, according to Gadgets360.
Aside from that, Blass also came out with a separate video that divulged HTC's roadmap ahead. HTC is currently focusing on design and creative cases that are made from cloth and different color patterns.
He also posted an image of the Vive smartphone showing the camera in the middle, with antenna bands spread on all four sides. Stay tuned to find out if the new Vive phone will be launched along with the 'U' series at the event scheduled to take place this Thursday, January 12.
