LG G6 Ditches Modular Design; Could Sport Better Quad HD Display; Release Date & Specs Here
Nens MitchellLG is reportedly doing away with modular design for its LG G6 release which is expected this year. The phone feature is considered to be one of the less striking ones of the previously released LG G5.
No more modular design
In an interview at the CES 2017, LG Chief Technologist Scott Ahn revealed that they will not anymore adopt the modular design for the LG G6. "Spinning off the smartphone division is not something we would consider," he added.
Ahn also recognized that it has been struggling in the smartphone industry especially that it competes with bigger brands such as Apple and Samsung. Cheaper alternatives with great features have also been offered by Xiaomi, Huawei and Lenovo.
Drop in sales
LG reported in October last year that it had a drastic 23 percent drop in sales every quarter. The same applied to their LG G5 release which was not positively received by fans despite its awesome dual-camera technology and its modular makeup.
Release date and specs
The LG G6 is believed to be unveiled this February at the MWC 2017 in Barcelona while a release date is eyed early in March. The handset will reportedly be made available way ahead the Samsung Galaxy S8.
When it comes out in a few months, the LG G6 is thought to have a 5.7-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The display will also be at 1,440 by 2,880 pixels which is already more than what typical Quad HD phones offer.
Minimal bezels
Aside from this screen feature, the LG G6 is also expected to have thinner bezels and will be more visible when used out outdoors. The company also claimed that it will be more battery efficient.
The upcoming LG phone release could also have on a Qualcoom SD830 chipset and a 4GB of RAM. What other features do you expect from the LG G6?
