'Final Fantasy XV' Contains Hidden References, Easter Eggs Linking To Previous FF Titles
Nicole T."Final Fantasy XV" is still a fairly new game from Square Enix. Although the characters were supposed to be fresh new faces with new adventures, it doesn't mean the game did not have any link to its predecessors. Apart from the name, there apparently were lots of hidden easter eggs and references to past games.
Franchise experts were able to capture a few nods to the past "FF" games in "Final Fantasy XV." The die-hard fans and players of the franchise have frequently updated the Final Fantasy Wiki page. In it are all the spotted easter eggs and references from "Final Fantasy XV."
For "Final Fantasy," the most notable link "FFXV" had was the opening loading screen. "When darkness veils the world, the King of Light shall come" is written. For those who have played the first ever "Final Fantasy" game, they would likely remember these familiar words. The opening screen for the first game was: "When darkness veils the world, four Warriors of Light shall come."
"Final Fantasy XV" players who have played the second game in the franchise would likely have spotted the Goblin design right away. Fans have noticed that it came back from "Final Fantasy II."
Chocobos are one of the trademarks of the "Final Fantasy" games. They have been in every game since "Final Fantasy II." However, the first gysahl greens made their appearance in "Final Fantasy III." At first, these were used to summon fat chocobos. However, these also became a trademark of the series.
Fans have speculated that the blue glowing runes that can be found on "FFXV" campsites are an ode to save points found in "Final Fantasy IV." On the latter, the runes were also placed around tents to ward off monsters.
The appearance of Garulas in "Final Fantasy XV" apparently alludes to the Garulas in "Final Fantasy V." The Garulas in the fifth game were tame at first, until they were possessed and start to attack the party. In "FFXV," Garulas are rather peaceful until they are provoked.
Magitek Troops that attacked Noctis and his group were apparently for "Final Fantasy VI." Magitek was a term that was first made in the sixth game, pertaining to manmade magic invented by the Gestahlian Empire.
These were only some of the easter eggs that can be found in "Final Fantasy XV." More of these can be found on Game Rant and also the game's Wikia page.
