Chevrolet Reveals Life-Size LEGO Batmobile At 2017 #NAIAS; Top Specs Include Built-In Wi-Fi
Louise BonquinChevrolet revealed its LEGO Batmobile a day after the Bat Signal was spotted lighting up the General Motors Renaissance Center on Jan. 13. The car manufacturer stated that its team created the vehicle after being inspired by Batman's Speedwagon that was shown in "The LEGO Batman Movie" which will premiere soon.
Currently, the life-size LEGO Batmobile is on display at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. The car show is a fundraiser campaign for charity and tickets are sold at $400 each.
The Batmobile has been described to be 17-feet long and weighs around 1,695 pounds. It was made from 344,187 LEGO bricks and the designers spent 222 hours to plan its design. Finally, the team assembled at the LEGO Model Shop in Connecticut and built Batman's ride for a total of 1,833 hours.
"To work on the LEGO Batmobile with Warner Bros. is an absolute thrill for us at Chevy," Fox Sports quoted U.S. vice president of Chevrolet marketing Paul Edwards as saying in a statement. "Many of the themes in ‘The LEGO Batman Movie,' like imagination, family and community, align perfectly with our Chevy brand values and add to the value of the partnership."
So, what is inside the life-size Chevrolet LEGO Batmobile? The car features an aluminum frame where the blocks were laid out. Inside the Batmobile is an impressive cockpit that was fitted with modern communications technology.
It has mobile phone integration via Apple's CarPlay for hands-free calling. The Android Auto and built-in $G LTE Wi-Fi are another highlights of the car.
At any rate, The Chevrolet LEGO Batmobile will be on display at the NAIAS starting Jan. 14 and will run until Jan. 22. Now, for people who are thinking if they can purchase this replica of Batman's Speedwagon, unfortunately, this is not available at Chevrolet's car outlets.
