LG And Samsung Foldable Smartphones May Be Released This Year
JPThe battle for 2017 best smartphone may have just gotten more interesting as tech giants Samsung and LG is reported to be in a race to launch the first foldable smartphones in the market. The two top smartphone makers is said to have been developing the foldable smartphone technology for quite some time and are already itching to launch their products for commercial use.
It can be remembered that Samsung first introduced the idea of a foldable smartphone at the 2012 CES tech show. The last time a report about a Samsung foldable smartphone surfaced was in September of 2015. From those reports, it was unveiled that the foldable screen tech was a project by Samsung called "Foldable Valley". Initial reports say that the technology should have been made available in 2016.
Due to the exploding Samsung Note 7 debacle that the tech giant had to overcome last year, Samsung is said to be looking to introduce the next big thing in the smartphone market. However, pundits believe that Samsung may not be willing to take the plunge on foldable smartphones as they are still haunted by the Note 7 failure. Samsung may wait for a while for someone to test the waters for foldable smartphones and launch their own Samsung foldable smartphone once the product is proven to be financially productive.
This is where LG enters. Though both smartphone makers plan to introduce 100,000 units of foldable smartphones in the market this year, LG may just have the better plan to minimize its losses. According to reports, LG is planning to make their foldable smartphone technology to other smartphone makers. Apple and Huawei are said to be in contention to use LG's foldable smartphone tech.
With these developments, it is quite certain that 2017 will be a great year for the tech and gadget community. The race for 2017 best smartphone has truly begun.
