Samsung Galaxy S8 Ads Show AMOLED Display; Snapdragon 835, Dual-Camera & Other Top Features Expected
Ritwik RoyThe Samsung Galaxy S8 handset is a massively-anticipated device and while fans are eager to know everything about the flagship, much is being said about its design. Recently, a set of ads were released from Samsung's display division hinting at the design of the device. The ads show a handset with a big screen-to-body ratio and very less bezel at the top and bottom. The fingerprint sensor is shown to be embedded in the display and there is no presence of a Home button.
It is possible that the smartphone shown in the ads is basically a dummy unit to project the display to other OEMs. Samsung could be using an AMOLED display for the Galaxy S8 handset. The ads have also provided hints of what fans can expect in the rumored February event, writes ZDNet. A lot is riding on the Galaxy S8 smartphone as it has to be perfect in many ways to allow fans get over the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco where the premium handsets kept bursting into flames and the company had to halt sales of the handset.
The AMOLED Display screen as shown in the ads has fuelled fan expectation that the Samsung Galaxy S8 handset may also have 4K capabilities though such as assumption is a bit farfetched, writes CNET. Samsung may choose to skip MWC 2017 to launch the Galaxy S8 and instead choose its rumored "Unpacked" event in April. As the handset is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, it can easily support a dual-camera setup like that in the Apple iPhone 7 Plus.
The Galaxy S8 will have Ingress Protection (IP) rating of 68. IP 68 phones can be submerged in water up to 4.9 feet for about 30 minutes. Stay tuned on Mobile & Apps for more information on the upcoming Samsung flagship Galaxy S8. Watch the released ads here.
