Nintendo Switch Backward Compatibility Issue May Haunt The New Console
JPThough most of the answers relating to Nintendo Switch have been answered in its Tokyo livestream big reveal, a lot of Nintendo fans has some unanswered questions left. One of the biggest questions left unanswered at the Tokyo Nintendo Switch unveil is backward compatibility.
Backward compatibility has been an issue every time a new game console is launched. It can be remembered that backward compatibility for Xbox and Ps4 were a big issue when the game consoles were launched and now it is the same issue that haunts the new Nintendo Switch. Though the Xbox one backward compatibility issue was resolved, Sony is yet to make the feature available for its PlayStation 4.
In a recent interview with Wired the President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo America, Reggie Fils-Aime has hinted that Nintendo Switch backward compatibility may be in the works. The company understands the concern of avid Nintendo fans on moving to Nintendo Switch without any details to backward compatibility.
Fils-Aime also discussed that Nintendo recognizes that some of the more passionate fans of Nintendo games have already spent a lot on Nintendo games. Though Fils-Aime did not really divulge any information about the Nintendo Switch backward compatibility his statements gave a glimmer of hope for Nintendo fans.
Few more weeks remain before the Nintendo Switch actually hit the shelves and a lot of fans will certainly wait for updates within these weeks. Nintendo may take the route of Sony in allowing their players access old titles through its PlayStation Now or launch video games that can be played in all its game consoles just like what Microsoft plans to do.
The consensus among experts is that Nintendo may take the virtual console route but no details or reports have surfaced to support this rumor. Nintendo fans may just have to wait for any updates regarding Nintendo Switch backward compatibility.
