HTC is focusing more and more on updating its existing Android smartphones to Ice Cream Sandwich. Earlier this week, the manufacturer rolled out an Android 4.0 update for Sprint EVO 3D and EVO Design 4G. The next device in the queue is the renowned HTC Rezound, offered exclusively by Verizon Wireless in the U.S.
On Monday, Verizon posted two update manual documents regarding the Android 4.0 update for HTC Rezound on its website. The update is officially listed as "Coming Soon". However, HTC Rezound owners have been reporting receiving notifications for the update since Wednesday evening.
The update is OTA (over-the-air). Needless to say, downloading the 299MB package over Wi-Fi is recommended. As always, the update is rolling out in phases and it may take few days to reach all Rezounds. Once the update is available, users will receive notification on their screen regarding the update.
According to Verizon Wireless, the update brings the following enhancements, apart from native ICS features.
Application and Widgets
Device Features
E-mail, Messaging & Web
HTC Rezound debuted in November last year on the same day Google first released the Android 4.0 ICS source code. HTC Rezound is a rare device to outmatch iPhone 4S' pixel density. It is also one of the first HTC's devices to feature Dr. Dre's Beats Audio enhancement.
HTC took nine months to release the ICS update for the device. After Android 4.0, the next trend in the update league is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The device fulfills every requirement to run Jelly Bean. However, do not expect the Android 4.1 update anytime soon.
