"GTA" fans, brace yourselves! This latest update on the situation at Rockstar is likely to disappoint the game's huge fanbase.

Rockstar Games has decided to shed more light on what 2017 has in store for the PS4, Xbox One and PC players of "GTA 5 Online." Aside from that, the studio also revealed a new map expansion progress.

Rockstar Games is likely to decelerate the production for PS4, Xbox One and PC content this year. Although Rockstar Games might not dump the game this year, "GTA 5 Online" will certainly see a considerable decline in terms of downloadable content (DLCs).

Apparently, the Import/Export DLC that was rolled out late last year was expected to mark the end of "GTA Online" updates; however, bearing the game's popularity in mind, plans have since changed. The update comes from the usually reliable "GTA 5 Online" source Yan2295.

If this proves to be true, "GTA 5 Online" players will be treated to some run-of-the-mill updates, which obviously will not be as comprehensive as previously rolled out updates. Moreover, the new content releases might not bring newfangled mechanics to multiplayer.

The "GTA 5 Online" tipster claims the developers are out of resources. Elaborating this further, he explained that Rockstar North is divided into 4 parts at the moment. While some devs are assisting San Diego with "Red Dead Redemption 2," others have got the ball rolling for the next "GTA" and some people have their hands full with another game.

This leaves only a handful of people to work on "GTA 5 Online" and with 4x fewer devs working on the game; things are likely to get less than awe-inspiring. In other words, players should not expect major updates for the title after Import/Export DLC. Nevertheless, "GTA 5 Online" will continue receiving some trivial updates enough to keep a few players glued to the game or at least to keep the game alive.

The "GTA Online" source noted that the above stems from what he has heard and this could all change, meaning, readers should take this with a huge grain of salt. However, it would be quite exciting to see what aces Rockstar Games has in store for its next big project, which according to Express, could be the long-rumored "Red Dead Redemption 2."

Meanwhile, a group of modders known as OpenIV is leaving no stone unturned in their bid to bring "GTA IV's" Liberty City to Los Santos. The modding team recently posted an update on their project in the form of a teaser video. Apparently, they have been working on the new expansion since "Grand Theft Auto V" was launched on PC back in 2015.

Do you think "RDR2" can garner the same level of success as the studio current cash cow; "GTA 5 Online" has or in fact, can surpass the fan favorite online mode for "GTA 5" in terms of popularity? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
