Android Nougat 7.0 Update Halted On Sony's Xperia Range Following Samsung's Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge; Resume Date Unclear
Coco DollangangerGoogle's Android Nougat 7.0 update seemed to be too hard for some users as the operating system is being rolled out to the Android devices. Last week, Samsung announced that many of the owners of Galaxy S7 and S7 edge were not able to access the latest OS and according to some reports, the slow roll out is because of mobile operators would need to check the software first before releasing it out to users.
Express reports that Samsung by then, had to stop the update in China following the discovery of a bug within the update and recently, Sony also had to stop the release of the new OS to its Xperia devices as several users reported that there have been inconsistencies with its audio playback through third-party apps as well as SD card encrypted data read performance. "We've identified the root cause and are aiming to provide corrective firmware and re-commence the rollout as soon as possible," according to the Japanese firm in a statement.
Reports say that the problem occurred during Sony's update of its Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z4 tablets on Android Nougat 7.0, which has just been rolled out last week with build number 32.3.A.0.372 as the company confirmed that it will unveil new smartphones in the next few weeks. The tech firm has also sent official invites for a press conference at the MWC 2017 (Mobile World Congress) trade show on Feb. 27 in Barcelona.
It is still not clear as to when would Sony resume the Android Nougat 7.0 update for its Xperia range but users are hoping that they won't have to wait that long. The update introduces several major upgrades and improvements, which marks Google's most advanced software release to date.
Android Nougat 7.0 features new GIF keyboard, emojis and launcher shortcuts with 3D-Touch-Esque features to the homescreen. Stay tuned for more updates.
