Samsung Galaxy S8 Innovative Specs Detailed [VIDEO]; Next Flagship The First To Pack Snapdragon 835 SoC?
Vinay PatelSamsung is expected to leave no stone unturned in their bid to amend the company's run down reputation thanks to the now defunct Galaxy Note 7 smartphone.
In line with this, the South Korean handset maker's next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8 is said to pack an array of jaw-dropping specs and features. As expected, the smartphone has been subject to all sorts of rumors and leaks in the past and now, the latest buzz around the Galaxy S8 suggests that it will be powered by Qualcomm's newfangled Snapdragon 835 chipset after agreeing to exclusive rights. In other words, the market won't be brimming with the Snapdragon 835 until the Galaxy S8 hits the store shelves, a source told Forbes' Ben Sin.
This is hardly surprising since Samsung has teamed up with Qualcomm to build the chip. The same source claimed that the Galaxy S8 would arrive in South Korea on April 14.
As a result of the company agreeing on exclusive rights, no other smartphone including LG G6 and HTC U Ultra can use the Snapdragon 835 processor until the Galaxy S8 is launched. While the G6 will have to settle for the Snapdragon 821 chipset, the HTC U Ultra has no choice but to go for the 821 as well. Industry insiders in Asia have given this claim their stamp of approval as well, Pocket-Lint reported.
If this comes to fruition, it won't be the first time LG employs a comparatively older chip. The company's G4 and G5 smartphones use older variants as well. LG's logic behind using a slightly older chip for its devices is that it would rather go for a thoroughly-tested chipset rather than be packing its handsets with a recent one that might overheat or malfunction. Moreover, the differences between chipsets these days are negligible.
While Samsung mobile chief Koh Dong-jin has confirmed that the Galaxy S8 won't be making an appearance at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2017 which kicks off Feb. 27, rumors running rampant online suggest the device will be announced in simultaneous launch events that are likely to take place in the US and Europe on March 29, allowing the LG G6 to take the center stage at this year's MWC.
