‘Pokemon Sun and Moon Updates: Pokemon Bank Now Compatible & Available on 3DS eShop, Users Receive Mewnium Z Crystals

The "Pokemon Sun and Moon" Bank update is now available on 3DS eShop. With this update, players can now easily transfer their favorite old Pokemon to "Sun and Moon" using Pokemon Bank. However, not all Pokemon can be transferred except Alpha Sapphire, Omega Ruby, X and Y and 3DS Virtual Console versions of Red, Blue and Yellow. Nintendo is also giving Pokemon Bank users Mewnium Z crystals. The Z-Crystal works only in "Sun and Moon" and players have until Oct. 2 to claim Mewnium Z. The item can be redeemed via Mystery Gift.

According to IGN, earlier version Pokemon like that in Black and White and their sequels, must be transferred to Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire or X/Y first and then to "Pokemon Sun and Moon." However, Pokemon once transferred cannot be transferred back. Even though the Pokemon Bank has been made compatible with "Pokemon Sun and Moon," it will carry an annual fee of $5. As per Tech.Mic, trading from Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow is easy.

If "Pokemon Sun and Moon" players want to move Pocket Monsters from first-generation games, they first need to own digital copies of the game from the Nintendo eShop on their 3DS. Transfers from original Game Boy versions are not possible. Players also need to download the Poke Transporter app to transfer from digital copy of Pokémon Red, Blue or Yellow to the latest games. The app is also helpful when used with Pokémon Black and White, Black 2 and White 2.

Meanwhile, "Pokemon Sun and Moon" players have up to Jan. 26 to sign up for the upcoming Alola Friendly Online Competition. Pokemon recently announced this special online competition on its official Twitter page via Global Pokemon Link. The competition will start on Jan. 27, Friday and will run up to Jan. 29, Sunday. "Pokemon Sun and Moon" players will have to log in to their accounts via the global link page.

The tournament has a set of special rules and is a Single Battle competition. Players will receive 50 Battle Points as a bonus reward for joining. Stay tuned on Mobile & Apps for more updates on "Pokemon Sun and Moon."
