Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 Bearing Model Number SM-G390F Gets Wi-Fi Certification [VIDEO]
Vinay PatelAn unrevealed Galaxy-branded smartphone bearing the model number SM-G390F made an appearance on WFA's (Wi-Fi Alliance) online database recently. This listing sheds more light on what the device might have in store for Samsung Galaxy's huge fanbase.
If the WFA certification is anything to go by, the purported Galaxy smartphone will feature dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity i.e. 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Moreover, the device will run on Google's latest mobile OS, Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, GSM Arena reported.
Although details about this upcoming Galaxy smartphone is few and far between, there's hearsay that this might be Samsung's long rumored Galaxy Xcover 4, which is trotted out as Samsung's robust, weatherproof smartphone.
If these speculations come to fruition, the purported Galaxy smartphone will oust the Value Edition version of the Galaxy Xcover 3 which carries the model number SM-G389F and was launched in 2016 as a revamped iteration of the Galaxy Xcover 3 (model number SM-G388F) that debuted back in 2015, according to AndroidHeadlines.
As far as specifications of the alleged Galaxy Xcover 4 are concerned, the recent WFA certification does not divulge oodles of details about the device. Nevertheless, the Galaxy Xcover 3 shipped with an IP67 rating, meaning, the device could be dunked in one-meter water for as long as 30 minutes.
Moreover, the previous Galaxy Xcover model is also MIL-STD-810G certified, which is a U.S. military standard that signifies the device's ability to withstand thermal shock, solar radiation, dust, vibration, humidity, and salinity.
While it remains to be seen whether or not the Galaxy Xcover 4 will cling to those features, considering the crux of the Galaxy Xcover series is to offer smartphones that are sturdier than the mainstream ones, there is a possibility that the Galaxy Xcover 4 will come with same features.
There is still no release date associated with the next generation Galaxy Xcover; however, more details are likely to surface in near future.
Meanwhile, Samsung is gearing up to take the wraps off its long-awaited Galaxy S8 and the successor to controversy-plagued Galaxy Note 8. The South Korean handset maker released a slew of mid-rangers including the Galaxy C9 Pro in the global market in the past few weeks. Other upcoming mid-rangers include the Galaxy C7 Pro and the Galaxy C5 Pro.
