LG & Google Nexus-like Watch Style Is Taking Aim At Mid Tier Consumers: Price Starts At $249
Ceage SottoLG and Google are looking to capitalize on mid-tier consumers for their upcoming smartwatch. Allegedly, leaker Evan Blass was able to get actual photos of the both the mid-tier and high-end Watch Style.
The new Android Wear 2.0 device is designed to look good. A subtle bezel with silver and rose gold accent matched with leather straps will be a good selling point. But having said the design, Both companies aim to target mid-tier clientele with a lower spec Watch Style.
According to Engadget, the relatively thin smart watch, however, does not have a heart rate monitor. The feature is more common for the more expensive models that include the Apple's smart watch. The upcoming watches will be targeted for mid-tier buyers that would want to own the wearable tech.
The upside of the basic spec approach may be the price. Starting off at $249 is something worth to consider, especially for more expensive smartwatches. The mid-tier smart watch will presumably have different bands and color options, but with an added price.
For those who would want to have a one without the fancy specs, the cheaper Watch Style would be a good choice, aside from the ASUS ZenWatch 3. For consumers who would want to have the full-featured smartwatch, the high spec version might be enticing.
Both LG and Google have stated that both wearable tech will be out in February. Just in time for a perfect Valentines gift.
The market for smart watches have dwindled in 2016 and more so this year. Pebble was acquired by Fit Bit after the company suffered major financial troubles.
Samsung, LG and other companies that produce smartwatches have also suffered the same predicament. The release of both Watch Style devices might stir up some consumer curiosity. However, it is not guaranteed to save the market for the wearable tech.
