Nintendo Switch Pre-Orders: Pro Controller Sold Out In Minutes; Possible Restock Before Nintendo Switch Launch In March [VIDEO]
Pia MerciAll pre-orders for Nintendo Switch's Pro Controller have been sold out for now, as per recent reports. But reportedly, Best Buy is also now offering pre-orders on the Pro Controller, though they may not last long. Note that pre-orders are only available for shipping, not in-store pickup.
GameStop had opened pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller today and seemingly, the Amazon store sold out of units almost immediately earlier in the week. The Pro Controller is a bit expensive costing at $69.99, which is $10 more than the standard PS4 and Xbox One controllers.
The $70 controller is listed on GameStop's website, though it recently doesn't show the pad's availability for pre-order for a brief time. GameStop's release announcing availability went out at 10:57 a.m. ET and in a matter of minutes, all stocks were apparently sold out though aspiring buyers can get one if they pay more for a bundle.
GameStop also offers the controller via $100 edition that comes with a "Zelda Sheikah Eye" Edition Starter Kit. It features a case for the Switch system, earbuds, a screen protector and Zelda-themed Joy-Con Armor Guards. This is currently in stock and available to pre-order.
Given that Nintendo's Joy-Con controllers for the Switch may apparently not ideal for every gaming situation, the Switch's Pro Controller exists for gamers who need a more-traditional-feeling gamepad for games like "Super Bomberman R" and "Ultra Street Fighter 2".
The Pro Controller features an off-set analog kind of sticks which is similar to that of an Xbox controller. It comes with motion controls, Switch's "HD rumble" technology and the capability to read Amiibo figures. It is charged thru a USB-C cable which is also included.
The pad remains unavailable on Amazon and apparently, it doesn't appear to have been made available yet through other retailers though it could reportedly still happen between now and launch of Nintendo Switch.
