'Final Fantasy' 30th Anniversary: Fans' Theories On What To Expect

Jason Palmer

This year will be the 30th anniversary of Square Enix's "Final Fantasy" game. The game developer is set to announce the things that may be in stall for the "FF" video game franchise at the opening ceremony for its Anniversary event on Jan.31 in Japan.

It is worth noting that the opening day of the Anniversary ceremony overlaps with the current "Final Fantasy XV" Moogle Chocobo Carnival Event. The "Final Fantasy XV" special DLC is set to end on Feb. 20.

During the 2015 anniversary of the "FF" game franchise, Squar Enix granted what the fans have been asking for years. The game developer announced the "Final Fantasy VII" remake in 2015.

Since 2017 will mark the 30th year of the popular game franchise, fans of the RPG are already eager to know what Square Enix has prepared for the game. Fans have also floated their theories about what can be expected in the "FF" Anniversary.

The most ambitious theory that fans came out with is that a new "Final Fantasy" game may be underway. A new "FF" game is sure to send fans of the game to a hysteria but this is unlikely given the current success of "FF15" and that the "FF7" remake has not yet been released.

The best alternative to a new "FF" game is that Square Enix could be finally releasing the "FFVII" remake or even just a part of it. This is highly possible because it is already confirmed that the game will be published in installments.

It is also noteworthy that the event falls on the 20th anniversary of "FFVII". As such, an announcement about the game is very likely. There is also that unannounced "FFXV" update that game director Tabata hinted about.

Another theory that draws a lot of excitement from the fans of the game is a "Final Fantasy" game collection. The collection is said to comprise the first nine games of the popular game franchise.
