Xiaomi Mi6 Won't Release At MWC 2017; Alleged Top Features Include Full Ceramic Scratch-Resistant Body
Rei LantionThe Xiaomi Mi6 looks to be headed in the same direction as the Xiaomi Mi Mix, style-wise. With its stunning full ceramic body, 6.4-inch immersive display and an overall sleek, sharp-edged design, the Xiaomi Mi Mix looked every inch of a luxury phone.
Word on the street is that the Xiaomi Mi6 will sport all of that and more, as the latest reports point to the handset arriving this year with a completely scratch-resistant ceramic body. Sadly, tech fans won't be seeing it this February at MWC 2017.
Xiaomi No-Show for MWC 2017. According to The Huffington Post, a company spokesperson for Xiaomi has confirmed that the Chinese tech giant will be skipping the Mobile World Congress entirely. Last years' MWC saw the unveiling of a handful of Xiaomi handsets, which is why the public reasonably assumed they'd witnessing the unveiling of the Xiaomi Mi6 at this years' event.
Tech Crunch backs this up, stating that its absence is a surprise, knowing that this annual Barcelona-based Mobile World Congress is among the biggest conventions for the global mobile industry. It has been attracting over 100,000 attendees and it has a reputation as the place to show off the latest developments in mobile."
As surprising as this move may be, the fact that a spokesperson confirmed it pretty much smashes hopes for a February release. However, they'd be getting the Xiaomi Mi6 this year and perhaps, at a much later date.
Scratch-Resistant Body and More New Features. Mobi Picker has picked up on some interesting new features for the Xiaomi Mi6. According to them, the Xiaomi Mi6 will have an almost bezel-less display and a full micro-crystalline zirconia ceramic body that is completely scratch-proof.
The report states that several tests have been performed on the handset to test this feature and it's been passing with flying colors so far. Further speculations for the Xiaomi Mi6 include three variants of the model: the Mi6 standard, Mi6 Lite, and the Mi6 Pro.
No further reports on what the specific differences will be between variants but fans are hoping Xiaomi will provide more details on Xiaomi Mi 6 as it draws nearer to the release date.
