Blizzard Has Issues With Keyboard-And-Mouse Setups For 'Overwatch' Console Players

Blizzard has reached out to players of hit game "Overwatch" to refrain from using keyboard and mouse setups for consoles. The company has also asked console owners to choose between two options. This has gathered a mix of reactions from fans; with some agreeing and some not.

Apparently, a lot of first-person shooter players prefer to use the mouse and keyboard to play. Although "Overwatch" is not a PC exclusive game, there apparently are many who use this setup as well. However, it brings some sort of advantage over those who prefer playing "Overwatch" with console controllers.

Many said that using the keyboard and mouse can help with a more accurate aim, according to We Got This Covered. This helps players who are really serious about their "Overwatch" playing careers. Then again, this puts others at a disadvantage as controllers do not give the same accuracy.

This could be the reason why developers of "Overwatch" decided to ask console players to refrain from using the setup. "Overwatch" director Jeff Kaplan spoke about this issue on behalf of Blizzard.

"The 'Overwatch' team objects to the use of mouse and keyboard on console. We have contacted both first-party console manufacturers and expressed our concern about the use of mouse and keyboard and input conversion devices," director Kaplan posted on the official forum of "Overwatch."

Kaplan added that they have lobbied and will continue to lobby Sony and Microsoft about the issue. They wish to have the manufacturers disallow the use of mouse, keyboard and other input conversion devices for "Overwatch" or, perhaps, make it easier and more open for all players to use these devices.

In addition, Kaplan also encouraged "Overwatch" players to reach out to these manufacturers about their concern. Still, he did not forget to add that it should be done in a respectful and productive way. Sony and Microsoft have yet to respond.
