This technology is said to allow the Cupertino-based company from the possibility of using Zirconia ceramic. Note that the previous iPhones were made of aluminum and glass and by using ceramic, it would make the future iPhones much more durable.
Moreover, laser polishing will, in fact, open possibilities of using different materials for Apple's products by making use of laser technology and high temperature. Other materials that Apple can apparently use include sapphire, corundum, liquid metal and other impressive materials. Reports claim that the main focus was on the glass and Zirconia ceramic.
If Apple successfully utilizes Zirconia ceramic on its products, then it will eventually succeed too on solving one of its latest iPhones problem. It is said that the most annoying issue of the iPhone 7 dubbed as the "scuffgate" is that it is very prone to scratching especially those of the Jet Black variants.
The iPhone 5 as well displayed scratches faster than those of its other colors. With the help of a Zirconia ceramic body, Apple's famous Jet Black iPhone can shrug off this issue easily.
According to Express, Apple has already utilized Zirconia ceramic in a specific Apple Watch model. The tech giant's new laser polishing technology will permit them to finally apply the said material on its superior smartphone.
Other reports claim that there is also a possibility of employing an all-glass design. A patent was supposedly granted recently, which shows Apple's plans for an "Electronic Device with Wraparound Display". It is said that it resembles the previous Apple patents.
However, new reports say that the wrap around display will be apparently made totally of glass. The newly granted patent of laser polishing technique surely brings impressive potential to the Apple products. But it seems to be too late for it to be utilized on its 10th anniversary iPhone.
