‘Final Fantasy XV’ DLC News & Update: Developer Still Busy With VR Version, Booster Pack & Other Major Updates
Ritwik RoySquare Enix's biggest plan for "Final Fantasy XV" DLC is its Virtual Reality (VR) version. The game released three months back but director Hajime Tabata is still not done working on the title. In fact, the developer, instead of moving on to another game, is not yet done. This is naturally great news for fans who now expect a plethora of major updates and DLC for the game. Tabata, speaking to DualShockers, explained that 70 percent of the developer team is working on the game, supervising the DLC packages along with other updates.
Of course, bringing virtual reality experience to a game is no small thing and developers are reportedly busy with the PlayStation VR version of the game. The "Final Fantasy XV" Episode Gladiolus DLC is vastly expected by fans and will be released on March 28. The release date for the DLC was announced during Square Enix's 30th anniversary event. Prompto and Ignis will also receive their own story DLC. The Episode Gladiolus DLC will have a new storyline from Gladio's perspective.
Moreover, "Final Fantasy XV" fans are also waiting for a free "booster pack" update that will have a new gear. It is expected on Feb. 21. Tabata has also revealed that Square Enix is planning a year's worth of content, which shows that the developer wants to provide long-term support to the game. While all these show the developer's commitment towards the game, not everybody is happy with the game. In an earlier report, The Verge stated after looking at the demo played during E3 in June, that the game looked similar to classic arcade shooters.
The report compared "Final Fantasy XV" VR demo with games such as "House of the Dead." Many game experts have found the gameplay too simple, requiring only two buttons to play and not requiring much moving around. Sony surprised fans at the E3 when it announced that "Final Fantasy XV" would be getting support for PlayStation VR. It will be interesting to see how the DLC shapes up.
