‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ New Dialogue System Makes Players Think Before Taking An Action; Paragon/Renegade System No More
Ritwik RoyIf latest reports are to be believed, the new dialogue system in "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will allow players to fully express themselves. Director Mac Walters has explained why the new dialogue system replaced the Paragon/Renegade system. This is partly because the old Paragon/Renegade system was tied too closely to Shepard. BioWare's next adventure amongst the stars has ditched Paragon and Renegade as it does not make sense when Shepard is not the protagonist.
"What we have now is based more around agreeing and disagreeing. The reason I like that is because in the trilogy it's like, 'I'm gonna play Paragon,' and then you know which way you're moving the stick on every conversation. You don't have to think about it, because you're just going to hit Paragon every time ... With agree and disagree it changes by the circumstance and it changes by the character you're talking to, so you have to actually be more engaged in what's going on, to know if you're going to do that," Walters told Xbox Magazine, reports Games Radar.
Walters also explained that BioWare has added four tones of voice for better response and expression while playing "Mass Effect: Andromeda." Characters will be able to express themselves in four different ways. While the game's gameplay videos and trailers have always focused on exploration and combat, it's the characters and story that will be enhanced via this new dialogue system. "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is set to release on March 21 in North America and March 23 in Europe. It will be interesting to see how the new dialogue system performs.
Paragon and Renegade were very binary in nature. It was like choosing red or blue and then sticking to it. This Black/White morality system is definitely not working with BioWare and it has decided to make players think about responses on a case-by-case basis, writes PCGamesN.
