After years of development, the fan-favorite anime "Attack on Titan" season 2 will finally debut in a just a few months. Its gritty storytelling and unapologetic gore is one of the reasons why fans are sticking around and they now have new details on the upcoming season as Funimation has revealed a synopsis for the release.

Funimation has announced that it will telecast "Attack on Titan" season 2 starting April 1 and it has also released the anime's first poster for season 2, which features interesting characters. The poster showcases Eren looking more furious, who is no longer sporting his Survey Corps uniform but can be seen in his ripped undershirt and pants although fans wonder why the characters around him are not his sister Mikasa and his friend Armin but the four other Survey Corps members such as Reiner, Bertolt, Ymir and Krista.

"Attack on Titan" follows the adventure of a boy named Eren Yeager in a world swamped by huge creatures known as Titans. Eren, alongside Mikasa and Armin, are returning in season 2 and braver than ever and recent reports say that what is left of humanity is contained beyond the three massive walls, the Wall Maria, Wall Rose and Wall Sheena where the first wall has been breached and the second wall seems to have been crossed by the giant, humanoid and man-eating Titans in the upcoming season.

Moreover, "Attack on Titan" season 2 also sees a number of new Titans being introduced including a hairy one called the Beast Titan. Initially, it was confirmed to debut last year but it was delayed to 2017 and was revealed in December 2016 that it will premiere on April 1.

Perhaps the most chilling in season 2 is that the 'Titans have been protecting us from other Titans the whole time'. It could be that there are worse things beyond those borders. Check out the whole "Attack on Titan" season 2 synopsis here.
