‘House Of Cards’ Season 5 Update: New Characters Added But Who Are Returning And Leaving? Is Someone Going To Die?
Kate Wales"House of Cards" Season 5 will add more characters as confirmed by Netflix. The fifth season will see returning cast but there are those who had to say goodbye. Someone is speculated to die too, so here's what fans could expect come Season 5 of the popular political drama TV series.
Actor Campbell Scott and Oscar-nominated actress Patricia Clarkson will be joining "House of Cards" Season 5 this 2017 as per a report by Slashfilm. The roles of the new additions are not detailed but what's known is that Campbell's character will meet with Will Conway (Joel Kinnaman) in the upcoming episodes. Clarkson's character, on the other hand, will head to the White House to meet Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) as revealed in the teaser photos released in the same report.
Now that new "House of Cards" Season 5 cast has been named, let's see who among the fan-favorite stars are returning. Of course, Kevin Spacey will reprise his role along with above-mentioned stars Wright and Kinnaman. Jayne Atkinson, Elizabeth Marvel and Michael Kelly are also reportedly set to come back and actor Kelly has actually hinted something that may not be good news to fans.
As per a Deadline report last year, Kelly spoke about Frank's deteriorating condition following speculations that he may die on "House of Cards" Season 5. It is important to note that he didn't directly claim that Spacey's character is going to die but what he can say is that people may lose beloved characters. "You lose characters that you love. We almost lost Frank, and I always have faith in the writers that no matter what road we go down, we're going to come back to what the show is," the actor explained.
Fans are advised to take Kelly's statement with skepticism as he didn't imply that someone will surely die. Apart from Frank's speculated death, some "House of Cards" personalities are confirmed to be leaving the show too. Showrunner Beau Willimon will no longer return to work on the series while Mahershala Ali also confirmed that he will not reprise his role as Remy Danton.
