Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 Laptop Review: Differences Between The Original Dell XPS 13

Gloven Ramos

Almost two years ago, the Dell XPS 13 was launched in the market, and the laptop gained many positive reviews from different users around the globe. This time, the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1, the original XPS 13 successor, will try to overpass its legacy.

Overall, the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 laptop is almost the same with the original Dell XPS 13. They share the same classy design: sleek metal cases, nearly bezel-less screens and an attractive carbon-fiber weave covering the keyboard deck and trackpad. One major thing that differs is the successor's flexibility and convertibility into a tablet.

The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 has a 360 degrees flexible display, very suitable for those who love using the laptop in bed. The new offering weighs 2.7 pounds and has an 8mm to 13.7mm body thickness, only 1mm thinner than the original XPS 13. As a usual problem for thin laptops, it doesn't have room for full size USB ports, however, it has two USB-C ports located on each side and a MicroSD slot and a headphone jack.

The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 laptop comes with 1080p and QuadHD+ variants. It also includes the 7th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors and fits up to 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. It has a colorful and sharp 13.3-inch screen display with 5.2mm infinity edge bezel around. Even in direct sunlight, display on screen is still visible. This laptop display performance really competes with the other latest laptops today.

The battery performance is quite impressive as it still can last even with multiple programs running. The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 laptop was released on Jan. 5, 2017 during the CES 2017. Price for the new laptop starts at $1,000 for the lowest specs and $1,800 for the highest.
