The Gen 2 Pokemon are heading to "Pokemon GO." A recent report revealed that Niantic will be releasing over 80 Gen 2 Pokemon to the game later this week.

According to TechCrunch, Niantic has revealed that the most awaited Gen 2 "Pokemon GO" release will he happening next week. The report suggests that since the "Pokemon GO" servers have already stabilized, Niantic can already introduce updates and more pocket monsters to the game.

A recent report also revealed that Niantic is preparing to introduce PvP mode and a new trading system to the game. These are in addition to the planned Global live events for "Pokemon GO."

Aside from these updates, it looks like Niantic is also ready to release more Pokemon to the game. Over 80 new Johto Pokemon are set to be released in the game.

Johto Pokemon are those pocket monsters from the 1999 "Pokemon Gold and Silver." These pocket monsters are more popularly known as the Generation II Pokemon.

The introduction of Gen 2 monsters in "Pokemon GO" is said to have been long overdue. Fans of the game have been asking for new pocket monsters and so far, the only new pocket monsters added were baby Pokemon and the recent pink monsters for the "Pokemon GO" Valentines' event.

According to the report, the over 80 Gen II "Pokemon GO" pocket monsters are discoverable and can be caught in the wild. Impressive as it seem, the number 80 does not cover all the 100 Gen 2 Pokemon.

Of the 20 unaccounted for Gen II "Pokemon GO" monsters eight of those is said to be the already introduced baby Pokemon. The six unaccounted Gen 2 pocket monsters are said to be the Gen II legendary Pokemon.

According to the report, the Gen II "Pokemon GO" update will be released all at once. This means, all the over 80 new Gen 2s will be discoverable and can be caught in the wild once the update goes wild.
