‘Assassin’s Creed: Empire’ Release Date Revealed For Fall 2017? Leaked Images Suggest An Egypt Setting But Recent Hidden Symbol Indicates Game Could Be Set In Japan [VIDEO]
Rei LantionFans of Ubisoft's "Assassin's Creed" franchise have long requested Japan as a setting for this action/adventure/quasi-ninja video game. The closest we've gotten was China, but Ubisoft has maintained its stance that Japan would not be an ideal mission setting.
Although the company has yet to confirm it, some pretty solid leaks have placed the next installment, "Assassin's Creed: Empire," squarely in Egypt. An Easter egg in another Ubisoft game, however, suggests otherwise.
'Assassin's Creed: Empire' Leaks Egyptian Setting
A screengrab of pyramid renders for "Assassin's Creed: Empire" was leaked back in September 30, 2016 by Twitter user @Nibellion. The caption read, "First Assassin's Creed Empire screenshot leaked (Egypt confirmed?)." The image itself seems pretty solid, but Express UK reports that Ubisoft has yet to deny or confirm the authenticity of the shot.

A lot of players seem pretty happy with this speculation; most agreeing that it would give "Assassin's Creed" a lot of flexibility regarding historical accuracy. Egypt is an "ingenious location," stating that the franchise can expand anywhere from here later on should it really be that setting. Talks of the protagonist being an ex-slave are also quite rampant.
'Assassin's Creed: Empire' Japan May Be on the List
However, a recently-spotted Easter egg has given fans some new hope for Japan. It's purely speculation at this point, but The Sun UK reports that a Samurai wearing the iconic 'A' symbol (from "Assassin's Creed") was spotted in another Ubisoft game: "Rainbow Six Siege." This image was spotted and posted by Reddit user FlowerRenaissance.
Following the Reddit thread for this proves fans are ecstatic for the promise of an "Assassin's Creed" game in Japan, with replies ranging from "so much potential," to simple excitement over the possibility of "ninja assassin's."
'Assassin's Creed: Empire' Release Date
Mic reports that "Assassin's Creed: Empire" is expected to be released by the end of 2017. An earlier Kotaku report says "Empire" was originally planned to debut Fall 2016, but their source revealed Ubisoft's apparent decision to delay the game to 2017. The general assumption is a full years' delay, meaning the "Assassin's Creed: Empire" release date would be Fall 2017. This remains purely speculation. "Assassin's Creed: Empire" will be available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
