‘Pokemon Go’ Gen 2 Starts February 16? Niantic Discount Offer On Storage Upgrades Could Hint At Gen 2 Release Date
Rei Lantion"Pokemon GO" has once again gotten fans on a whole new level of excitement. With the official announcement of 80 new Pokemon, new features like berries, and possible Shiny Pokemon hidden in the APK, players are once again dusting their walking shoes and charging their phones.
Unfortunately, the only information Niantic Labs has revealed is that the update will be released "this week." Some fans believe a recent Tweet announcing Niantic's discount offer on storage upgrades may have named the date.
50% Off on Pokemon Storage Upgrades
"Pokemon GO" creator Niantic Labs posted a Tweet announcing a 50% discount on storage upgrades between the 16th until February 28 PST.
To help you prepare for upcoming adventures, Pokémon Storage upgrades require 50% fewer PokéCoins starting the afternoon of Feb. 16–28 PST!
— Pokémon GO (@PokemonGoApp) February 16, 2017
Players immediately started tweeting back, asking if February 16th was the confirmed release date for "Pokemon GO: Gen 2." Predictably, there was no reply, but judging from the tweets, people will be watching their phones very closely. The fact that the week is almost over gives credence to this assumption.
According to Android Central, storage upgrades will now cost 100 PokeCoins instead of 200. The initial storage limit is 250 Pokemon and 350 items for starters, but upgrades can be bought to increase the size. The maximum for both Pokemon and Item store is 1,000 each.
Datamined Info, What to Expect from Gen 2
Aside from 80 new Pokemon, fans can look forward to the introduction of four new berries. The original Razz Berry is used to increase capture chance by 1.5 times. According to Express UK, the Bluk Berry, Wepar Berry, Nanab Berry, and Pinap Berry will be added. Mic also explains two of the berries, Nanab and Pinap, in detail.
Using a Bluk Berry ensures the Pokemon doesn't jump or move during the encounter. A Wepar Berry will increase the target capture circle. A Nanab Berry will evidently slow the movement of the Pokemon, making it easier to catch, and a Pinap Berry doubles the amount of Candy you receive for each successful catch.
For now, "Pokemon GO" Gen 2 is confirmed for release this week. The actual date has yet to be announced, so stay tuned.
