Tag Heuer Might Launch A Connected Modular Device Very Soon
Cris Xander JulianoTag Heuer's Connected was one of the most expensive smartwatches available at $1,500. However, the steep price tag might continue as Android Central recently reported that the reknowned watch maker is planning to launch a new fully customizable smartwatch as early as March 14. The company earlier announced that they were planning to make a follow-up device for the TAG Connected by May 2017.
Dubbed as the Tag Connected Modular, the new watch is reported to have a unique set of features that make it a true one-of-a-kind Wear 2.0 smartwatch. It features customizable lugs with a choice of changeable straps and clasps. It is also a hybrid between the digital connected Android Wear 2.0 body and a traditional automatic movement.
Last year's TAG Connected was considered by the company to be successful citing strong sales that exceeded expectations of 20,000 units being sold. TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Claude Biver stated that smart watch technology has plenty of future potential in the market.
Releasing a timepiece that is modularly customizable will achieve Tag Heuer's goal of having leverage in strength as a traditional watch manufacturer by offering a wide variety of styles and wrist sizes found on the different market it services.
Pricing of the latest device was not mentioned, but don't expect it to be far off the $1,500 price tag its predecessor had. For most people, this will only be a smartwatch from Tag Heuer that can be admired from afar.
The Tag Heuer Connected is a smartwatch that runs the Android Wear OS released in 2015. It also offers its own app which features several custom TAG Heuer watch faces such as Chronograph, GMT, Themed and Three-hand just to name a few.
