"A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV" will soon be made accessible to all as  the "Final Fantasy 15" side-scroller, previously a GameStop exclusive, will be made free next week. The game's pre-orders from GameStop came with "A King's Tale." Many missed out on this, and now, they are in luck as the side-scroller will be made free on the PSN and Xbox Live from March 1. This is for the Europe release. US release date is not yet known though it can very well be Feb. 28, reports Gematsu.

"A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV" aims to aid players' understanding of the core RPG's story. It is one of many transmedia offerings that fulfill the same objective. The Kingslaive movie and Brotherhood anime series are also serving the same purpose. The developer of "Final Fantasy 15" is reportedly coming up with patches that will address certain loose-ended story threads that go nowhere. Various other narrative issues have also been reported, for which, the game faced a lot of backlash from fans and critics. The game is available on PS4 and Xbox One.

Meanwhile, GameSpot reports that "Final Fantasy XV" new PS4 Pro patch has also been criticized. Some have however stated that both the Xbox One and standard PS4 now offer a much smoother experience. The newest patch arrived on Monday, promising an improved frame rate for PS4 Pro. However, a test by Digital Foundry revealed that the patch fails to take the game to 60fps constantly. It has been criticized for a "highly variable level of performance" because the patch removes the 30fps cap from the Lite mode on PS4 Pro.

"As of now, there is no longer a way to enjoy Final Fantasy XV with a smooth, stable frame rate on the PS4 Pro. Your only options are bad frame-pacing at a higher resolution or a wildly unstable unlocked frame rate. That's it ... In some ways, patch 1.05 actually feels like a retrograde step as opposed to a desirable upgrade." read the Digital Foundry report.
