S. TurlaAfter portraying the cruel Ramsay Bolton in "Game of Thrones," actor Iwan Rheon has now been cast as a character in the upcoming ABC show "Inhumans." Rheon will portray Maximus in the newest Marvel TV series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Iwan Rheon will headline the upcoming Marvel TV show "Inhumans" as the character called Maximus. The straight-to-series drama will focus on the Inhumans, "a race of superhumans with diverse and unique powers, were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965."
The ABC show will feature "the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family." The character Maximus is "a clever and charming Inhuman who is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, Black Bolt, the king - though he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself."
Scott Buck, a "Dexter" alum, will write and exec produce the show. Roel Reine will direct the first two hours of "Inhumans," which will screen in 1,000 IMAX theaters during the Labor Day weekend "for a two-week run." After the "ground-breaking deal," extended episodes of "Inhumans" will then air on ABC during the network's official fall season launch.
Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory from Marvel are also executive producers for the upcoming show. Loeb enthusiastically shared, "Iwan's ability to be charming, roguish and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We're thrilled to have him on board."
Buck adds, "Maximus is a complex character. Likable, charming, tragic and villainous all in the same moment, and I'm very excited to have someone of Iwan's considerable talent." The Independent adds that Maximus the Mad, the "younger brother of Black Bolt," possesses a "genius-level intellect" and the ability to "exchange his consciousness with another."
The Inhumans recently appeared in the Marvel show "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." The show featured the Inhuman Quake/Daisy Johnson, who was portrayed by Chloe Bennet.
