A Celebrity, Not Tim Cook, To Unveil The iPhone 5, Predicts Analyst

With the Apple press event only a day away, analysts are scrutinizing every detail. The latest prediction may take many iFans by surprise.

According to a Digital Trends report, Rob Enderle, head of analyst firm Enderle Group, Apple will "likely" seek the help of a celebrity to introduce the iPhone 5.

"I don't think Apple is going to have a flop, but it will have real difficulty creating the kind of magic that Jobs was able to summon up. For instance, we'll likely see a celebrity trotted out at the launch event to help create the kind of on-stage presence that Steve Jobs once had, and Tim Cook lacks," wrote Enderle.

The idea of the most valuable company ever allowing an outsider to launch an iconic Apple product is perplexing to many iFans. The iPhone is an established brand and amongst the most popular smartphones in the market, so many predict that it will not need a celebrity endorsement to create market buzz.

Enderle is also of the opinion that most consumers will not watch the Apple event, since so many rumors and leaks have made consumers familiar with the purported features and specifications of the new smartphone. Leaks and rumors have normally led up to iPhone launches, and most take the perennial speculations as indicative of the popularity of Apple's smartphone offering.
