Google’s Budget Android One Phone GM 6 Sports Features Found On Higher-End Phones
Vittorio HernandezA Turkish smartphone maker launched the Android One smartphone at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. The GM 6 is a budget-priced gadget but some of its features could be found usually on higher-end phones.
Runs On Android 7.0 Nougat OS
Although said to be an affordable phone, General Mobile GM 6 phone, which runs on Android 7.0 Nougat, still has no price or detail availability. Its 5-inch HD IPS display with 720 x 1,280 pixels with a pixel density of 294 ppi has a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and runs on 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737T SoC, Gadgets 360 reports.
The GM 6 sports 3GB of RAM with 32 GB internal storage and features a 13MP rear shooter and 8MP selfie camera. On its front home button, there is a fingerprint sensor. The Android One smartphone is powered by a 3,000mAh battery, according to Android Authority.
Stock Android Experience
General Mobile, a smartphone maker with operations in almost 20 countries, came up with the Android One program to provide consumers in developing nations with smartphones that have stock Android experience at more affordable prices. The GM 6 would be sold first in Turkey before it is sold in the future in other markets.
The GM 6 comes in three colors – Gold, Space Grey, and Rose Gold. Besides the fingerprint sensor on the home button, the Android One phone’s other sensors on board include ambient light sensor, magnetometer, accelerometer, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. Connectivity options include 4G LTE + 4.5G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth V4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and a Micro-USB port.
Before the launch of the GM 6, Google was rumored a few weeks ago to launch an Android One phone in the U.S. which it would allegedly sell in summer 2017. It was supposed to come with a major marketing and advertising campaign.
