A survey conducted by CouponCodes4U.com revealed that 40 percent of respondents say they would buy Nokia's Lumia 920 smartphone, unveiled Wednesday, despite the lack of a release date.
According to Informationweek, the survey covered 2,371 respondents aged between 18 and 35. Asked what mobile operating is used, 39 percent said iOS, 31 percent use Android, and 29 percent carry a BlackBerry smartphone. Windows Phone was not polled.
87 percent of respondents said that Lumia 920 is a "big improvement" over the Lumia 900, while 65 percent were "impressed" with the internals. The ability to use the touchscreen while wearing gloves impressed 61 percent of respondents. Mobilenapps.com found it can also use gloves with the iPhone 4's display.
Specifically talking about buying the Lumia 920, 52 percent say they would skip the phone while 35 percent said they were willing to buy the device. Price is an issue for 13 percent of users. Considering Windows Phone is the third-place mobile operating system, that seems like a respectable result. The operating system saw slow growth this year: recent data revealed over 100 apps are submitted per day. iOS and Android see over 700 and 600, respectively.
Nokia unveiled its Lumia 920 smartphone on Wednesday, to a warm critical reception aside from the lack of launch date and price. Apple countered the announcement with the news of its iPhone 5 going on sale a week after announcement. Pre-orders opened just two days after.
Following the announcement, it was confirmed that the smartphone is launching on Everything Everywhere, the UK's first 4G carrier. Carriers for U.S. customers are still to be confirmed.
Windows Phone 8's launch is to be announced.
