The Korean smartphone maker Samsung is on a mission to divert iFans from the newly launched iPhone 5, due to hit shelves on Sept. 21.
After Samsung's recent print ad campaign in newspapers. which compares the specificationss and features of the Galaxy S3 with the iPhone 5, the company has now launched a new video ad which hints at iFans lining up to buy the Apple's iPhone 5. The latest Samsung S3 advertisement takes yet another dig at Apple and its fans, stating that "The next big thing is already here."
The video also shows what seem to be Apple fans talking about the new features of the next-generation iPhone, including a reference to the headphone jack on the bottom and the Lightening dock connector. Additionally, the advertisement shows a man using the Galaxy S3 saving a spot in the queue for his parents, a subtle suggestion that the iPhone 5 is meant for the older generation.
Samsung's new ad also shows an Apple fan proudly saying "This year, we're finally getting everything we didn't get last year," pointing to the iPhone 5's larger 4-inch screen and 4G, features that have been included in the Galaxy S3 since its launch in May this year.
The commercial also reminds smartphone users that the iPhone 5 lacks Near Field Communication (NFC) and data sharing options. Finally, Samsung also shows that the supposed Apple fans are leaning towards the Galaxy S3.
Samsung taking swipes at Apple is not a first. In 2011, when the iPhone 4S launched, the company released a Galaxy S2 commercial in a similar vein. However, the latest video spot indicates that the Samsung is on a killing spree and will leave no stone unturned to oust rivals.
Both the Apple iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 pack high-end features which appeal to both smartphone enthusiasts and tech gurus alike. However, time will tell which device takes the lead in the smartphone race.
