LG G6 Latest News: Device To Possibly Feature A 3D Facial Scanning Feature In June
Keisuke AkioThe South Korean electronics giant's flagship device reportedly will add a new feature to its smartphone. LG G5 allegedly will integrate the 3D facial scanning feature, which will be available in June.
Finally, the LG G6 is officially out in the market. This new device is concentrating on its new features in security. It comes with a fingerprint scanner, however, it seems that there will be an additional security feature. A report from an investor claims that it will also have a 3D facial scanning feature and possibly the software update will take place this June, says Digitaltrends.
According to Trusted Reviews, LG has been working with Oez, a facial recognition solutions company. After some negotiations and tests, it is said that facial scanning software will be set out in the LG G6. This is also said to be launched with LG Pay in South Korea this June.
This speculation is still to be confirmed but if it will be a fact soon, it can be stated that LG will be the first company to use a facial scanning feature in their smartphone for mobile payments, says CNET. It is already known that mobile payments are done through the fingerprint scanner. It is also speculated that Apple might use the same feature but there is no confirmation yet regarding this.
Facial recognition is not included on the recently released Samsung Galaxy S8's options for security. It looks like the feature is envisioned to be for fun because it can easily be tricked by unlocking the device just through a photograph only.
On the other hand, LG is prepping up its payment system to be released in June also. The company confirmed this in Reuters last March. This would end the yearlong speculations and missed deadlines and South Korea is the certain destination of this as of the moment.
