HTC Ocean/HTC 11 Latest News: Flagship Device Will Drop 3.5mm Jack; IP57 Protection Added
Keisuke AkioAnother unofficial report for the highly anticipated HTC flagship device surfaced recently. The recent speculation claims that HTC Ocean or HTC 11 will add IP57 and will drop the 3.5mm jack.
LlabTooFeR, a known industry insider recently posted on Twitter suggested that the upcoming flagship device from HTC would add IP57 for water and dust protection. In addition, the insider stated that HTC Ocean, the upcoming flagship under the HTC U Ultra series will not have the usual 3.5 mm headphone jack, said 9to5google.
In the previous leaks, HTC Ocean or HTC 11 has been tagged most of the time and all of those previous claims indicated that the headphone jack was missing. It appears that the recent information from the Maximus HD ROM developer is adding solid ground for what has been previously speculated, according to Android Headlines.
Aside from those, the HTC Ocean is said to feature Edge Sensors on its release. These latest features are believed to enable users to manipulate and interact the device by touching or squeezing the edges of the device.
There were also prevalent specifications claiming that the device will have a 5.5-inch display screen made of Gorilla Glass 5. It will have a 1440 x 2560 pixel for its resolution. It is also heavily speculated to run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 System on the chip. In addition, it will have either 4 GB or 6GB of RAM and an internal storage space of 64GB or 128 GB. HTC Ocean allegedly will have 3000 mAh battery, says PC Advisor.
HTC's new flagship is not actually going to be the first phone from the company that lost the 3.5mm headphone jack, or even the first major flagship to lose the feature, as that's what happened with last year's Sprint-bound HTC Bolt. In any case, the HTC Ocean is soon set to become the first HTC-made device powered by Qualcomm's first 10nm SoC that's expected to be significantly more powerful than the HTC U Ultra, at least on paper. There's still no word on when exactly the phone will be hitting the market, but more details on the device will likely follow soon.
