Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus Latest News: Teardown Shows Battery Specs Similar To Note 7s
Keisuke AkioThe Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus has been torn down by tech experts and has found a very substantial information. The latest device has the exact specifications as that of the exploding Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
Samsung Galaxy S8 is a massive device with massive specs and features. It has a 6.2-inch display roomy enough to house a 3500mAh battery. In the latest teardown by iFixit, the team discovered interesting details about the device. They discovered that the metal and glass frame of the Galaxy S8 Plus secures that opening the device would be a hard task. For those planning to do the teardown themselves, the sticky adhesive enclosing the border of the phone must be removed. This will take away the IP68 rating of the device.
Ifixit, the reliable source for the teardown of gadgets and other electronics and technical stuff rated the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus 4 with 10 as the highest. The site has listed the details on how they have arrived at such low rating.
There is one interesting information that was discovered during the teardown procedure.as a general knowledge, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus features a massive battery pack. It is worth noting that the capacity of the battery pack itself is identical to the cell found in the Note 7. Aside from that, both devices have the same voltage reading. The S8 plus has a 13.46Wh cell with a 3500mAh rated at 3.85V, which is the same cell present at the infamous exploding device.
While both are similar in those mentioned areas, these factors do not pose a threat of exploding. It appears that the South Korean advanced battery safety checking procedures have already worked out well in favor of the company, says BGR.
In terms of reparability, Wccftech reported that several components are segmented and can be replaced independently. Another factor that must be always considered is the device's near bezel-less form and Infinity Display which requires extra care. The battery can also be replaced but it is difficult with the kind of adhesive applied as well as the rear panel that is glued on.
