Samsung Display Prepares Elite Team for Apple's Foldable Screens
Austin JayThe team at Samsung Display recently changed things around to boost how well they could make screens that fold while they worked on some stuff for Apple.
This move was meant to make them better at their job since Samsung has had a lot of experience making devices you can fold since 2019.
Both Samsung Display and LG Display are busy with projects connected to foldable things Apple may make. They say these projects involve screens around 20.25 inches big, but it's unclear if that size has to do with one gadget or how they make the panels.
In the past, Apple looked into screens that could fold. Some papers said Samsung may offer samples of folding displays to Apple for a possible iPhone that can fold, but what Apple really wanted wasn't clear.
The following year, a news source mentioned that Apple was working on a foldable phone, but they weren't sure they'd make one. At that moment, they only had the screen part figured out - no phones you could actually fold.
To start with, one expert thought a folding iPhone might happen in 2024. Later in 2022, though, he said 2025 or later sounds more right. Likewise, another display professional also suggested the soonest a bendy iPhone could come out would be 2025.
Apple was supposedly going to make a MacBook Pro that could fold in 2026, but now they might make it next year instead. Some people thought it would be a really big laptop with a keyboard that you could touch and fold up.
Lately, though, reports say Apple is still working on a device with a folding screen, which may come out in 2025; whether that's a MacBook or iPad is unsure.
After that, they could make a folding iPhone.
But at an event in South Korea, a guy from Samsung Display talked about problems with folding screens. While Apple is said to be developing a folding gadget, worries over whether it will hold up might delay when it arrives. Folding displays are better than before but are not as sturdy as regular ones. Maybe Apple's plan changed because folding tech isn't quite there yet to make things reliable.

Samsung Display recently changed how it splits work between different teams, especially for its smaller screens that could go into devices like VR headsets. Instead of reporting to the research division, the microdisplay crew answers directly to the top management.
This move shows they want to find good ways for people to use tiny screens, like virtual reality glasses and other cool tech.
Also, both Samsung and LG are hard at making folding 20-inch panels, presumably for what Apple's upcoming things might need. This joint effort demonstrates how they want to push displays forward together, especially bendy screens for mobiles coming soon.
Apple's efforts to give their customers the best devices continue as they follow and are updated to the latest trends. Folding iPhones may come to stores soon.
