Samsung Surprises Galaxy Phone Owners with Battery Boost
Austin JaySamsung is set to introduce a battery care feature for upcoming Galaxy S24 models and existing Galaxy smartphones, aligning with Google's battery health tools for Pixel users. The new feature, discovered by Tipster Tarun Vats, includes three options aimed at prolonging battery life.
The first, "basic protection," halts charging at 100% and resumes only when the battery drops to 95%, preventing constant charging at maximum capacity.
Additionally, an adaptive charging mode slows the charging process to 100% until morning, adapting to your routine for "moderate protection," aiming to optimize battery longevity. This move echoes a growing trend among smartphone manufacturers to implement features that preserve battery health and enhance user experience.
"Adaptive protection" in Samsung devices temporarily stops rapid charging at 80%, gradually reaching a full 100% charge just before the user wakes, aligning with their usage patterns.
Google Pixel phones showcase a similar functionality, utilizing an active alarm for this purpose.
The feature essentially suspends charging at 80% during sleep hours, ensuring a complete charge before the user's wake-up time. It's designed to offer moderate protection, specifically catering to those who habitually charge their phones overnight.
The estimation of sleep duration is based on individual phone usage behaviors, aiming to optimize battery health and longevity.
Samsung's upcoming battery protection feature, including "maximum protection" that halts charging at 80% until the battery drops below that level, mirrors Apple's approach with the iPhone 15. This innovative feature and battery health insights aim to mitigate battery degradation caused by complete charging cycles.
The leak suggested this new Samsung capability might be exclusive to One UI 6.1, which is anticipated to debut with the Galaxy S24.
However, recent findings by Tipster Tarun Vats suggest the potential activation of this feature in One UI 6 using the Activity Launcher app. Yet, Tarun notes its current malfunction, hinting that the setting might be reserved for the upcoming One UI update, indicating an exciting development for Samsung users.

One UI 6.1 is supposed to change how Samsung's Galaxy devices work entirely, and it should come out around the same time as the new Galaxy S24 phones on January 17, 2024.
This new software will have tons of intelligent features you can learn from, hoping to make using these Galaxy tech things even better.
Some things, like the chatbot assistant and photo editor, may just be on the new S24 at first, but many other things in this update could also come to older Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets.
AI Wallpaper and Call Transcriptions offer diverse customization and communication enhancements among these features. Inspired by Adobe's Generative AI, the Image Magic Editor empowers users to extend and manipulate images creatively.
Moreover, the update is expected to incorporate innovative capabilities, such as on-device AI-based video recording and an AI object remover exclusively tailored for the Galaxy S24 series.
Scheduled for a phased release starting with the S24 series in January 2024, the One UI 6.1 update is projected to reach older devices by mid-2024, promising a comprehensive evolution in Samsung's mobile experience.
