Samsung launched its flagship smartphone the Galaxy S3 in May this year, which has become very popular in the consumer market since its release, and Apple recently launched its hotly-anticipated iPhone 5. Now, a new Chitika Insights report suggests that the iPhone 5 surpasses Galaxy S3 when it comes to Web usage.
In a world where web usage has become very common on PC's and tablets, smartphones are not lagging behind. Many smartphones users access the world-wide web on the go using their handsets.
"Following the release of Apple's iPhone 5 on September 21st, Chitika Insights was interested in comparing the Web usage rates of the newest phones from both manufacturers. To quantify our latest study, we conducted a user agent analysis on millions of mobile ad impressions, spanning a 7-day time frame from October 3rd through October 9th, 2012. Looking solely at impressions coming from the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S III, we were able to observe the difference in Web traffic volume between the two devices," reports Chitika Insights.
Smartphone enthusiasts have welcomed the much-touted iPhone 5. The company's initial inventory of the iPhone 5 finished within hours after pre-orders went live in September. When compared to the previous iteration, the iPhone 4S', launch last year, pre-orders for the latest handset came in at above two million units. Apple sold a whopping five million units of the iPhone 5 in the first weekend of availability itself.
Another study from The Loop Insight suggests that one third of North American consumers are likely to buy the iPhone 5. "The survey of 4,270 primarily North American consumers shows an 'unprecedented degree of consumer interest' in the iPhone 5. Results show that one-in-three people are 'Likely' to purchase the new iPhone, while 19% are 'Very Likely' and 13% said they were 'Somewhat Likely' to buy the iPhone 5."
The Chitika Insights report suggests that coupled with high sales of the iPhone 5, the 4G LTE connectivity on the smartphone aided in bringing more users online. The fast data speeds of 4G LTE enables users to have a more enjoyable and uninterrupted web browsing experience.
