Samsung officially launched the Galaxy Note 2, a follow-up to its Galaxy Note phablet, in the U.S. at a press event on Wednesday, Oct. 24 in New York City. The Galaxy Note 2 will be available on five major U.S. carriers - Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, and U.S. Cellular.
With all five carriers announcing the availability and pricing, which carrier is the best pick for the Galaxy Note 2? Which one will you pick?
Here's a look at the prices and contract details that are on offer from all five to help you choose.
Sprint
On Oct 16, Sprint announced that the Galaxy Note 2 will be available to its customers from Oct. 25 onwards and will sport a price tag of $299.99 on a two-year contract. The carrier will offer the Galaxy Note 2 in Marble White or Titanium Gray.
"The No.1 mobile phone provider in the United States, Galaxy Note II will boast several firsts for Sprint - first to launch with AndroidTM 4.1.1, Jelly Bean; first smartphone display larger than 5 inches; and first device to launch with a quad-core processor," indicated Sprint's press release.
AT&T
AT&T's version of the Galaxy Note 2 (16GB) will also retail for $299.99 on a two-year contract and will ship from Nov.9 at its stores. AT&T too opened its pre-order on Oct. 25 and the phablet can be ordered online at www.att.com/galaxynoteii and the Web site indicates that the "Orders are scheduled to ship on November 6, 2012." A non-contract version of the Galaxy Note 2 phablet is also available for $649.99. The carrier is offering the phablet in Titanium Gray.
"Beginning Nov. 9 customers interested in picking up a Samsung Galaxy Note® II will be able to purchase one for $299.99 with a two-year agreement in all AT&T* stores and online. Online pre-orders for this highly anticipated device are planned for Oct. 25 at www.att.com/galaxynoteii," stated the AT&T press release.
Verizon Wireless
Verizon is also offering the Galaxy Note 2 (16GB) for pre-order at $299.99 on a two-year contract. A non-contract version of the phablet will set consumers back by $699.99, which is $50 more than the AT&T price. The carrier is offering the Galaxy Note 2 in both Titanium Gray and Marble White. However, the Verizon version of the tablet will ship by Nov. 27, which is later than its competitors. What's more, the Verizon version will have the carrier's branding on the phablet's home button.
T-Mobile
T-Mobile's version of the16GB Galaxy Note 2 is the most expensive out of all the carriers. The phablet will be offered in Titanium Gray and Marble White and set users back by $369.99 on a new two-year contract, after a $50 mail-in rebate, which means users will have to pay $419.99 upfront. The no-contract version of the phablet will cost $649.99.
T-Mobile's Galaxy Note 2, however, will differ slightly from versions on other carriers with a few pre-loaded apps and services, which includes the full version of EA's Need for Speed game.
U.S. Cellular
U.S. Cellular announced that customers can order the Galaxy Note 2 from Oct. 25 or purchase it in store from Oct. 26. The Galaxy Note 2 (16GB) will cost $299.99 on a two-year contract and will be available in Titanium Gray. Purchasing a non-contract version of the phablet will cost a whopping $800, which is the most expensive out of all the carriers.
